The magnificent desert oasis, Dubai, is a city in the United Arab Emirates and is one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations. It offers incredibly modern architecture, countless shopping centers, a beautiful desert landscape, as well as an exciting and glamorous nightlife.

The beautiful city of Dubai has many impressive landmarks. The most popular one, which also forms the center of the city’s skyline, is the Burj Dubai. At 818 meters, it is by far the world’s tallest building and its construction will be completed by the end of 2009. You can enjoy a spectacular view of the city from the viewing platform of the World Trade Center. Dubai is also popular for its many extravagant hotels, the fanciest one being the towering seven-star hotel ‘Burj al Arab’. This glamorous hotel was constructed in the shape of a sail and it sits on a manmade island built on the sea. Other captivating engineering marvels includes the Palm Islands which are the world’s largest artificial islands and are even visible from space.

Dubai is a shoppers’ haven, boasting some of the biggest malls in the world, including the Dubai Mall, the stylish Mercato Mall and the Emirates Mall. The Emirates mall also comprises the ‘Ski Dubai’ which is the world’s largest indoor skiing hall boasting the first indoor black run. At the beginning of each year, Dubai hosts the renowned, month-long, Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) which is a must-see for all shopping enthusiasts. For purchasing souvenirs, shopping at the Souks (Dubai’s markets) is also an interesting option.

When in Dubai, the excitement never ends. One can enjoy a day full of fun at the Wild Wadi Water Park with artificial rip-curl waves or at the Al Maha Desert Resort and Spa where you can also enjoy camel riding, horseback riding or even go on a desert safari. Apart from these, one can also enjoy an incredible hot air balloon ride or stroll along the natural sea-water inlet at the Dubai Creek or simply relax at the Jumeirah beach.

Being a desert city, Dubai experiences a very hot climate and the weather is mostly sunny and hot year-round. The best time to find cheap flights to Dubai is from November through March when it’s relatively cool.
