Belize has many historical and cultural sites with the prominent ones being the Mayan temples, Baron Bliss Lighthouse, Gulisi Garifuna Museum,Hawksworth Bridge, House of Culture, Las Banquitas House of Culture, Museum of Belize and St. John’s Cathedral. Evidence of ancient Maya is scattered around at various sites like Altun Ha, Cahal Pech, El Caracol, Cerros, El Pilar, Lamanai, Lubaantun, Xunantunich and Nim Li Punit. Belize City is the historical capital of the nation.

From Bermudian Landing Community Baboon Sanctuary, where the endangered black howler still exists, to St Herman’s Blue Hole National Park, which is home to St Herman’s Cave. Other options include Spanish Creek Wildlife Sanctuary, Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary, Guanacaste National Park – a trekker’s paradise,Hummingbird Highway and Dangriga, famous for nautical/jungle excursions is also home to the only Garifuna museum.

Other major attractions include the Belize Barrier Reef, Barton Creek Caves, Belize Blue Hole, Hidden Valley Falls, Swallow Caye Marine Sanctuary, Shark Ray Alley (Hol Chan Marine Reserve) and Caye Chapel, a spectacular golf course.
Belize has a typically hot and humid climate throughout the year with a distinct dry and wet season. The dry season, December through May, is the best time to visit.
