Lisa Rose - The DJ

When I was on promotion tour for
Frankfurt Festival people asked me ‘Who
is Lisa Rose?’ Now I have the opportunity
to ask you directly, so how would you
describe yourself?

I always find that a difficult question. Not
because I don’t know who I am, but if you
ask different people who I am you will get
different answers. My mom would say “she
can be lazy”, but my DJ partner sees that
I am a hard worker. My friends would say
I am too nice and caring, while my sister
would say “she can be a pain in the ass”.
If I have to describe myself I would say I
am someone who goes her own way. Even
though that might not be the safest way, I am
willing to take the risk and follow my heart.
I am a dream-chaser. When I graduated
from high school, everybody went straight
to Uni, but I wanted to travel the world. Even
though the teachers and my parents tried to
talk it out of my head, I went backpacking
to New Zealand. If I want something, I will
go for it. I think everybody who knows me
will agree on that one (laughs). The same
for DJ-ing, I started it just for fun, but it
became my passion. A few months ago I
decided to quit studying Psychology at the
Erasmus University Rotterdam. I know, a
psychological DJ (laughs).

When did you start as a DJ?

I started only two years ago. I met my
current DJ partner Dani Fernandes at a
Kizomba party and he taught me the art and
skills of DJ-ing. I wouldn’t be where I am
today without him. So I want to give a shout
out to him, for all his help and support. Now
I want to dedicate my time fully to the art of
Dj-ing and I am working on becoming better
every day.
