Special: Milan Milan (ital. Milano, germ. Mailand) with it’s nearly 1,3 million inhabitants applies to be the second largest city in Italy after Rome (3,3 Mio). Through the centuries the city developed to an important center in fncancial and economic terms as well as in cultural consideration. The city is the capital city of the same named metropolitan area and the north-italian povince Lamboardy. About 600 B.C., Milano was founded by celtic setllers and was frst ofcially named “Mediolanum”, which name was chosen for cities that meant to be points of trafcal intersection.
