In it’s early history Milan was constantly conquered by diferent regional forces and also nearly completely destroyed a few times until 1162. In the leadership of the Holy Roman Empire the city went through an enormous increase in prosperity and reputation. After following Spanish and Austrian controls Milan became the capital city of the Italian republic under Napoleon Bonaparte for a few years. In the second world war Milan was taken by the Axis powers and the center city was attacked by allied forces. Luckily the well-known milanes chathedral wasn’t hit by bomb attacks.
